Book News: Rebel Force
covers and change of title:
Posted: 24th October
While we await an official announcement on Scholastic's new youth
series Rebel Force, Aamzon.ca and Amazon.com
have published cover art for the first two books, Target
and Uprising.
Interestingly the cover for second book, Uprising,
has the title Hostage - perhaps a change of title or an error
by Amazon.ca when it first listed the title Uprising
on 20th September (or even the cover for
another book in this series).
Both Target and
Uprising are
expected for release in the New Year.

Book News: Star Wars: The
Old Republic novel coming soon?:
Posted: 24th October
With the recent announcement of LucasArts latest MMO game Star
Wars: The Old Republic, LucasBooks executive editor Sue
Rostoni, was asked on the StarWars.com Boards: "Sue,
are there any chances that [the] Untitled Game Novel (see
our news story of 20th June 2008) is
somehow connected with [the] just announced The Old Republic?"
and her reply, never giving too much away, was coy: "There
is some chance of that, yes. There’s also some chance it’s
connected with some other secret game title."
So perhaps just as Star Wars: Galaxies had its tie-in novel Ruins
of Dantooine, Star Wars: The Old Republic may also get
its own tie-in novel, or perhaps a Battlefront III novel?!!

Book News: Synopsis for Outcast:
Posted: 24th October
StarWars.com have just published the synopsis for the first Fate
of the Jedi book, Outcast: After violent
civil war, and the devastation wrought by the now-fallen Darth
Caedus, the Galactic Alliance is in crisis -- and in need. From all
corners, politicians, power brokers, and military leaders converge
on Coruscant for a crucial summit to restore order, negotiate
differences, and determine the future of their unified worlds. But
even more critical, and far more uncertain, is the future of the
Jedi.
In a shocking move, Chief of State Natasi Daala orders the arrest of
Luke Skywalker for failing to prevent Jacen Solo's turn to the dark
side and subsequent reign of terror as a Sith Lord. But it's only
the first blow in an anti-Jedi backlash fueled by a hostile
government and suspicious public. When Jedi Knight Valin Horn, scion
of a politically influential family, suffers a mysterious psychotic
break and becomes a dangerous fugitive, the Jedi become the target
of a media-driven witch-hunt. Facing conviction on the damning
charges, Luke has only one choice. He must strike a bargain with the
calculating Daala: his freedom in exchange for his exile -- from
Coruscant and from the Jedi Order.
Now, though forbidden to intervene in Jedi affairs, Luke is
determined to keep grim history from being repeated. With his son,
Ben, at his side, Luke sets out to unravel the shocking truth behind
Jacen Solo's corruption and downfall. But the secrets he uncovers
among the enigmatic Force mystics of the distant world Dorin may
bring his quest -- and life as he knows it -- to a sudden end. And
all the while, another Jedi Knight, consumed by the same madness as
Valin Horn, is headed for Coruscant on a fearsome mission that could
doom the Jedi Order . . . and devastate the entire galaxy.

young clone troopers new to Torrent Company join Captain Gilead
Pellaeon's assault ship Leveler, fresh out of refit, for a 72-hour
acquaint. But an emergency tests their training as Leveler responds
to a call for support from Master Djinn Altis -- leader of a
dissident Jedi sect. The Leveler crew must rescue a captured
Republic agent, whose undercover mission has been compromised. And

Book News: New Fate of the
Jedi introduction:
Posted: 14th October
Although not yet released, Millennium
Falcon, the new post Legacy of
the Force book by James Luceno con-
tains a short introduction to the forthcoming Fate
of the Jedi series:
"It has been two years since the death of Darth Caedus.
Chief of State Natasi Daala has ushered the Galactic Alliance into a
time of unprecedented calm, and now the entire galaxy stands poised
to freely embrace the same enduring peace that Jacen Solo once
sought to impose as a Sith Lord.
"In this new era, Luke Skywalker finds himself battling
for control of the very order he founded. After Jacen’s fall to
the dark side, much of the galaxy sees Jedi Knights as rogue
soldiers too dangerous and unstable to leave unfettered. It is a
view shared by Chief Daala, who has sworn to bring the order under
government control–or disband it entirely.
"But the greatest threat to the Jedi remains unseen, a
faceless menace even more lethal and insidious than the Sith who
have plagued the Jedi for millennia. Awakened by Jacen Solo during
his five-year odyssey, this hidden peril is reaching out from the
darkest corner of the galaxy, assaulting Jedi Knights in ways that
Luke has yet to perceive–but which he must quickly thwart if he is
to have any hope of redeeming the New Jedi Order.
"Don’t miss the further adventures of Luke Skywalker,
Leia Organa Solo and Han Solo in the brand new epic series Star
Wars: Fate of the Jedi beginning with Outcast by Aaron Allston in
bookstores April 2009!"

Book News: Revised release
schedule from Sue Rostoni:
Posted: 9th October
Sue Rostoni, LucasBooks executive editor, has amended her
previous release schedule for 2009-2011. Although most changes are
mostly immaterial, some 2010 books being released earlier or later
than was previously expected, the biggest shock was that the third The
Clone Wars TV series tie-in novel (after Wild
Space (December 2008) and No
Prisoners (May 2009)), Karen Miller's second novel, will not be
released until March 2010. Responding to some concerns, Sue
commented: "you can read other things in the
meantime...", well with the plethora of new Star Wars books
announced recently, there will be no shortage of reading material.

albeit in an audio format: "regular instalments will keep
galactic news junkies abreast of news and opinions from the far-away
galaxy, but rather than read the news, you can hear it".
