[Star Wars Action Team] Del Rey announces SWAT program
First mentioned at last year's Celebration VI, Star Wars book publisher Del Rey has officially announced via the StarWars.com Blog[External site - opens in a new window/tab] the launch of its Star Wars Action Team[External site - opens in a new window/tab], or S.W.A.T. for short:

Whether you’re a die-hard reader who’s consumed every one of the novels over the past 35 years, or a newbie jumping into the books for the first time, the SWAT is looking for a few dedicated recruits. It’s entirely free — all you need is a passion for Star Wars stories and a willingness to help spread the good word.
The way it works is quite simple:
>>Help spread the word.
>>Earn points and rankings.
>>Get stuff.
All you have to do to get started is click the banner below to sign up. Once you have activated your account, start completing tasks assigned by Del Rey SWAT leaders. When each task is complete, you’ll acquire a certain amount of points. Points can be redeemed for some awesome Del Rey Star Wars–themed goodies, including posters, bookmarks, short-story samplers, bumper stickers, and of course, books.
So if you love to talk all things Star Wars, the Del Rey SWAT is for you. Again, joining up is 100 percent free. May the Force be with you.

At present signup is not yet possible and we assume that once it goes live membership benefits will be restricted to US residents only (although this has to be confirmed).

[Maul: Lockdown] Blurb for Maul: Lockdown
RandomHouse.com[External site - opens in a new window/tab] has updated their online catalogue for Joe Schreiber forthcoming Darth Maul novel, Maul: Lockdown, with the book's official blurb:

Set before the events of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, this new novel is a thrilling follow-up to Star Wars: Darth Plagueis.
It's kill or be killed in the space penitentiary that houses the galaxy’s worst criminals, where convicts face off in gladiatorial combat while an underworld gambling empire reaps the profits of the illicit blood sport. But the newest contender in this savage arena, as demonic to behold as he is deadly to challenge, is fighting for more than just survival. His do-or-die mission, for the dark masters he serves, is to capture the ultimate weapon: an object capable of obliterating the Jedi and conquering the galaxy.
Sith lords Darth Plagueis and Darth Sidious are determined to possess the prize. And one of the power-hungry duo has his own treacherous plans for it. But first, their fearsome apprentice must take on a bloodthirsty prison warden, a cannibal gang, cutthroat crime lord Jabba the Hutt, and an unspeakable alien horror. No one else could brave such a gauntlet of death and live. But no one else is the dreaded dark-side disciple known as Darth Maul.

Maul: Lockdown by Joe Schreiber is due for release in the US on 21st January in hardback and e-book.
