this book is full of everything that is Star Wars that one can easily forgive the relative minor missteps. Thrawn was a great vilian, put he could never hold the candle to Vader in tandem with Palpatine, we also got the empire at its full might, we could also learn more of Lukes quest of becoming a Jedi, his conflicting feelings towards both: Vader and Leia, we got lots of old school adventure that never got to strange or un-star-warsy....read full review

This might be the best new canon depiction of Princess Leia to date. The others were barely resembling the on-screen heroine and in worst cases were doing her a massvie dishonor. So, this being Leia's book, is a major advantage. The story itself is pretty solid, even when the second part is not very exciting and the third part got very preachy. The first chapter is, where the book strikes gold and that chapter earned this book the fourth star...read full review

loved how this was not a black or white scenario [...] a great story, that could work very well as a spiritual sequel to Rogue One [...] managed to use cross-over elements with the movies, not as cheap exploits, but actually build upon them [...] like Band of Brothers, a war book right inside the trenches [...] one of the most unique books in all of Star Wars fiction....read full review

this book loses the Star Wars feel completely in favour of naive and cheap pulp [...] it is childish, cheap & brainless [...] we are treated to a shallow, empty, forgettable disaster adventure, that neither provides fun, nor deepens the insight into the rebellion, the empire or any part of the galaxy [...] the Star Wars element to this series is completely gone [...] marks the all time low for the new canon across all media....read full review

The story itself is also really interesting, even if most of it is predictable [...] it still worked well enough within this old universe [...] handling so many main characters without singling anyone out as the main protagonist is still a tremendous achievement. But this has one consequence, the book is quite long for a Star Wars book, clocking in at more than 500 pages, not that I am complaining, I liked most of it, but the build up and the finale are my favorite parts....read full review

there was a good story at the heart of this abysmal abomination of wasted time, but the horrific art and the highly incompetent writing doomed this to be one of the worst pieces of so-called art I have had ever the "pleasure" of reading...read full review

no means a perfect Star Wars book [...] but it is one hell of a exciting book [...] Kemp surely knows how to write captivating [...] love his action scenes [...] He is so deeply rooted in the now, the present of a situation, that you yourself - while reading it - feel almost present [...] a very good read, especially for those who like this period...read full review
